Bible Question: I have a friend who is sharing the word in a forum. This happens frequently in the forum and is accepted. However, there is another poster, who says she is Christian but she is telling my friend (in her public posts) that he shouldn't be "shoving the gospel down people's throats because they'll never listen that way." My question is, is there scripture that addresses what she is "doing?" I want to privately share such scripture with her. Thank you. |
Bible Answer: Greetings KathylnKY and welcome to the forum, With regards to your post the following comes to mind. Philip. 3:14-19 I press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus. [15] Let us therefore, as many as be perfect, be thus minded: and if in any thing ye be otherwise minded, God shall reveal even this unto you. [16] Nevertheless, whereto we have already attained, let us walk by the same rule, let us mind the same thing. [17] Brethren, be followers together of me, and mark them which walk so as ye have us for an ensample. [18] (For many walk, of whom I have told you often, and now tell you even weeping, that they are the enemies of the cross of Christ: [19] Whose end is destruction, whose God is their belly, and whose glory is in their shame, who mind earthly things.) I remember when I first became a Christian that I would Bible whip people to death, almost. That’s just about all my wife heard for two months, after I trusted in Jesus, until the Lord revealed the truth to her about Christ and she then also believed! In my early years as a believer my enthusiasm sure turned off a lot of people and I muddied up a lot of water but on the other hand many came to faith in Christ also. I think, now that I am older, that many times we have to win the opportunity to speak to people about the Lord and be in a position as stated in the following verse. 1 Peter 3:15 But sanctify the Lord God in your hearts: and be ready always to give an answer to every man that asketh you a reason of the hope that is in you with meekness and fear: People must see something in one’s life that cause others to want to know more about what the believer has, to the point they, the unbeliever, will ask questions; when that happens the Lord will have them prepared for the message of the gospel. I am always looking for a subtle way to introduce God’s Word into a conversation with others, with out being obnoxious in the process. Matthew 10:16 Behold, I send you forth as sheep in the midst of wolves: be ye therefore wise as serpents, and harmless as doves. One must remember the following, of which I still stumble on some times, Matthew 16:17 And Jesus answered and said unto him, Blessed art thou, Simon Barjona: for flesh and blood hath not revealed it unto thee, but my Father which is in heaven. All of our effort of trying to push the gospel message down people’s throats doesn’t mean anything, unless God “reveals” the truth to them; then they can have a personal relationship with God through Jesus His Son. Many times believers try to do their best at a job that actually belongs to the Holy Spirit. John 16:8 And when he is come, he will reprove the world of sin, and of righteousness, and of judgment: Have a great day, CDBJ |
