Bible Note: Just a thought- Limbo? Where in the bible does it teach such a doctrine? God alone has immortality. 1 Tim 6:15,16 A soul is a living being, the combination of a body and the breath of life and never a conscious entity separate from the body. Gen 2:7 Ecc 9:5,6 The soul can die and can be destroyed in hell. Eze 18:2o Matt 10:28 At death the body returns to dust and the breath of life returns to God who gave it. Ecc 12:7 Death for both the rightous and the wicked is a sleep ,a state of unconsciousness in the grave until the resurection. Ps 6:5, 115:17 ,146:3,4 Ecc 9:5,6, Jn 5:28,29. Heb 8:1,2. The idea of an immortal soul is a teaching of the ancient greeks. read up on the teachings and writtings of Plato,Plotinus,Tertullian, and Origen. None of the teachings of these men are based on bible truth yet some of their teachings are held in many churches of today. In regards to infant death God has a plan for all those who die. He knows all from beginning to end. See book of Jer. He said that He knew him before he was ever formed in the womb. Those who have lost children at birth can know that their child is asleep waiting the resurection. Candy Lee |
