Subject: Do Jesus and Paul agree on salv by faith |
Bible Note: Niclac, "Outside of Rome"? The very phrasing of your question betrays your prejudice. The question should be: "is one justified, sanctified, forgiven outside of Christ?" And the answer to that is no. So the question I pose to you is: Do you believe Catholics are outside of Christ? I rather suspect you do. Here again is that "schizophrenic" and "double talk"ing Catechism. read the last sentence very carefully and then go back to what I previously posted to you about who does the baptizing (Christ) through His body which is the Church. It is not something we do ourselves. It is a submission and a submergence into Christ. 1257. "The Lord himself affirms that Baptism is necessary for salvation.[Cf. Jn 3:5 .] He also commands his disciples to proclaim the Gospel to all nations and to baptize them.[Cf. Mt 28:19-20.] Baptism is necessary for salvation for those to whom the Gospel has been proclaimed and who have had the possibility of asking for this sacrament.[Cf. Mk 16:16 .] The Church does not know of any means other than Baptism that assures entry into eternal beatitude; this is why she takes care not to neglect the mission she has received from the Lord to see that all who can be baptized are 'reborn of water and the Spirit.' God has bound salvation to the sacrament of Baptism, but he himself is not bound by his sacraments." Emmaus |
