Bible Note: Christian Tim: Welcome to the Forum! Please take a few moments and fill out a personal profile in the UPDATE USER INFO. This debate is one that has solid foundational merit for each side. The batismal regeneration theory has been debated by wiser and better Biblical scholars than either of us. I,, with brotherly love, choose to seek grounds upon which we agree, and celebrate the love we have in our hearts from the Lord Jesus Christ. That is how we are brothers. I believe Romans 14:22, and I think Galatians 5:6 says it best " ...The only thing that counts is faith expressing itself through love." In no way do I think baptism is not required is a person is genuinely BORN AGAIN. The point we differ on is, that baptism is a condition completing salvation? I would say no, it is not a condition or part of salvation, but as good works is proof of salvation so it is with baptism, as an outward confession of an inward change. Show me a so called "believer" that has refused baptism, that what is ordained by Christ, and I will show a flawed faith. Very little is the difference of our beliefs. I like Martin Luther see Salvation as by Grace alone, plus nothing. We by salvation follow in Baptism as positive proof of assurance we are saved by God's Grace. I have explained my position, to point out we are very close to saying it quite simularly beliefs. Thank you for allowing me to more carefully explain my understanding of Baptism. Let us determine not to make this an issue to hamper fellowship between us or the forum. Peace. justme |
