Bible Note: Greetings Pete! Brad may yet respond, but may I point you to a few verses. While it is certainly true that once we have been redeemed that God can keep us from sin, Scripture is quite clear that we all begin life as sinners, no matter how 'good' we might think we are. Rom. 3:23 - "for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God," Ecc. 7:20 - "There is not a righteous man on earth who does what is right and never sins." 1 John 1:8 - "If we claim to be without sin, we deceive ourselves and the truth is not in us. 9 If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness. 10 If we claim we have not sinned, we make him out to be a liar and his word has no place in our lives." Ps. 51:5 - "Surely I was sinful at birth, sinful from the time my mother conceived me." Keep reading and keep asking questions my friend, no one is offended by honest questions. :-) Your Brother in Christ, Tim Moran |
