Bible Note: Dear parpar, You wrote, "The word of God cannot disagree with itself." You are quite correct! The word is logos, where we get the English "logic." The very foundation of logic is built upon the law of contradiction: two antithetical (opposite) propositions cannot both be true at the same time and in the same sense. Without it, there can be no rational thought, or any meaningful communication. Your example is very minor one, easily dealt with by understanding the context of those verses. Here is a harder one: How can a God, who by His own admission, be one "who will by no means clear the guilty" (Exodus 34:7), also be one "who justifies the ungodly" (Romans 4:5)? In Him, Doc |
