Subject: are the bible translations accurate? |
Bible Note: nickycan1 Looking at the Red Sea crossing story we actually see a miracle either way. If they in fact went through the Red Sea that would be a miracle. If on the other hand they crossed a swamp then we see a miracle of God drowning all the Egyptians in swamp the Jews walked through. And it still does not address the account that Children of Israel walked through on "dry" ground. Having walked out into a "dry" lake bed to catch the big bass caught in the remaining water and finding myself up to my hips in mud, that is one aspect of the account I really appreciate. :-) Your counterpoint to Hank that we must in some way reconcile with science is interesting. Science has often boldly stated the Bible was in error, only to be proven wrong. Science clearly stated that there was never a Hittite empire and that the Bible had to be wrong, then remains of the Hittite Empire was found but science has never apologized. In Europe science said the world was flat and the Bible was wrong. Think about it proof and logic still doesn't make us believers. Look at the Children of Israel. They walked through the Red Sea or watched the Egyptian army drown in the swamp they just walked through. They were feed with manna, when they cried out for meat and were feed quails. Their clothes did not wear out, their sandals didn't get holes in the sole, and after 400 years of bondage when they left Egypt the walked out with the riches and there was no feeble among them Psalm 105:37-38. To most would say that is pretty convincing yet the minute Moses turned his back they built an idol. Logic, head knowledge, sense knowledge will never convince us to believe in God it takes "FAITH". If you try to prove God to your youth by logic, science or head knowledge you will lose. You need to be building faith in them. EdB |
