Subject: I liked most of what... |
Bible Note: I also remember the first time I went to church and they were doing tongues. I wasn't saved yet and Mama had turned into a Charismatic Catholic. So she talked me into going to church but it wasn't her church, it was my mil's church and they were having a charismatic svc there. So after offeratory, everyone started babbling, I thought about that witchdoctor song, that oooh, eee, ooh ahh ahh, ting tang walla walla bing bang. It was like at this certain point, they all started at the same time, like ready, set, GO!!! I saw my mil there, she didn't see me, but she was looking like what's going on here??? She hightailed it out of there before I could reach her. :) Also they had a prayer request time and if my mom had said she wanted to pray for her two heathen daughters, I would have walked for sure. :) Then my uncle that married my aunt that I went to those svcs with, (she met him at one) he's one of these that when he's at a svc, he raises his hands and shakes them, like he has palsy or something. But he doesn't talk in tongues, but he claims to prophesy, tells all these stories about what wonderful things the Lord had him say to people where he'd have to get his phone no. changed because of people calling wanting prophecies. Yet they don't belong to a regular church where you go every week, tithing is def. out of the question (I think that's why he won't find a regular church) and he does act pretty worldly (materialistic) usually, makes you wonder what he's really about. Oh, and every time you go to a svc that there's a prayer line, he's in it. Mama says he's embarassing, doesn't want anybody to know she knows him. :) This is a guy that ran his credit card bills up because he figured the Lord was coming back and so he wouldn't have to pay them, he'd be raptured long before then-guess what!!! Bankruptcy! I know I've had a wierd spiritual upbringing and have a lot to learn. I was raised Cath, went thru my heathen period, then was saved but traveled and never found a church home, listened to Copeland, went to a few Believer's Conventions, experienced some real miracles too, but still didn't know how to live right. I thank God that now I'm settled in a good church and learning correctly now but I can't say all I learned before was in vain either. :) I just remember that expression about I ain't where I need to be but thank God I ain't where I used to be!!! |
