Subject: Can true Christians lose their faith? |
Bible Note: Doug, Thank you for your response. As for your first point, my faith is not shaken so much by inconsistancies found by others but by the fact that they lost faith because of what they found. This makes me fear that I could be one of these people. There are two ways in which people "leave the faith." 1. People love the world. They revert back to sin and turn their backs on God. Their minds once again become clouded by sin and they move further from God. This is a selfesh choice that they make. The church often says that these people never knew the truth in the trush to begin with. 2. This form is much more disturbing, and we almost never hear the church speak of such people. These are the people who have devoted their lives to study and share God's word. Then they come to a point after much studying that their logic destroys their faith. They want to believe, but evidence they've come across no longer allows them to believe. What I am struggling with is, if God is real, how could he let these people go? If you go to the website exchristian.org you can read the stories of many people who lose faith. Some of the stories are from shallow people who never really understood Christianity in the first place, but others put knots in my stomach reading them because they really understood all that the Bible teaches and still lost faith.
