Bible Answer: Greetings Charlet01! Here is what I was able to come up with from Harpers Bible Dictionary: 1) Jehovah-jireh (je-hoh×vah-jee×reh; kjv; rsv: Heb., ?The Lord will provide [or see]?), the name given by Abraham to the site where he found a ram to be offered in place of his son Isaac (Gen. 22:14). 2) Jehovah-nissi (je-hoh×vah-nis×se; kjv; rsv: Heb., ?The Lord is my banner?), the name given by Moses to the altar he built (Exod. 17:15) to commemorate the victory over the Amalekites at Rephidim on the way to Canaan (see Exod. 17:8-16). 3) Jehovah-shalom (je-hoh×vah-shah-lohm×; kjv; rsv: Heb., ?The Lord is peace?), the name given by Gideon to commemorate the appearance of the Lord to him and his commission to deliver Israel from the Midianites (Judg. 6:24). 4) Jehovah-shamma (je-hoh×vah-shahm×mah; kjv; rsv: Heb., ?The Lord is there?), the name of Jerusalem in the restoration envisioned by Ezekiel, emphasizing the divine presence in the holy city (Ezek. 48:35; cf. Isa. 60:14-22; Rev. 21:2-22:5). 5) Jehovah-tsidkenu (je-hoh×vah-tsid-ken×oµoµ; kjv; rsv: Heb., ?The Lord is our righteousness?), the name given by Jeremiah to the future king through whom God would save the people (Jer. 23:6; 33:16). The name may be a play on the name of Zedekiah, regent in Jerusalem from 597 to 587 b.c. There may be more, but these were all I could find. Your Brother in Christ, Tim Moran |
