Bible Question (short): Abomination by remarrying your ex? |
Question (full): Concerning divorce and reconciliation, even possible remarriage to my ex, the passage that I am refering to is out of Deut. 24 vs.4 which states that"a man is not to remarry the ex after she has been married to another. This would be an abomination." (paraphraised) In my case, neither one of us have been remarried, but there has been sexual relations with people other than ourselves since our marriage.(there has been a period of 10 years till now since our marriage) This raises the question of commiting an abominal act by remarrying her not because of another marriage, but because of our foolishness as single people over the past years. The passage that I raise this question comes from Jesus at the well with the woman saying "You are right in saying that you have no husband. I tell you you have more than one husband " (paraphrased)Jesus seems to acknowledge sexual contact as equivalent to being married. So to ask again, Would I commit an abomination by marrying my ex wife,(neither she nor I have been married to anyone else), because of our sexual unfaithfullness as single adults, or am I making to much of this situation. I am fairly confident from reading the Word that God desires reconciliation,(1 Cor 7:11)yet I don't want to commit an abomination in God's eyes because now I fear Him and desire to live life His way, through Christ. If anyone understands, I welcome your thoughts. |
