Subject: A question of capitalization: small "s"? |
Bible Note: Hi EdB, Thank you very much for answering. I agree that the capitalized S is not all that wrong. I'm looking for a little more consistency, however from our translators. Another place where there is "in the Spirit" is Ezekiel 37:l although NASB has "by the Spirit of the Lord". I haven't decided on that one yet or verse 14 where it says "And I will put My Spirit within you, and you will come to life,..." A note in the Study Bible says that Spirit could be "breath" within you: I'll be comparing it with my possible "breath of Life" at Gen 2:7. Anyway, Ezekiel 36:26,27 show us that both cases could be used correctly, or at least that it is not all "cut and dried," so to speak. Verse 26 says "put a new spirit within you" and verse 26, "And I will put My Spirit within you,..." According to my "Phrase Concordance of the Bible" by Nelson publishers, there are twenty four "IN THE SPIRIT" phrases. What are your thoughts on four more? Mt 22:43, Acts 19:21, 1Peter 4:6, or Acts 21:4 "through the Spirit"? Thanks again. In regard to the Son of Man and who it may be a direct reference to may I suggest the study of Daniel 3:25 in the NASB and the NKJ. Later, Ray |
