Subject: who are you and where from |
Bible Note: New Creature You asked: 1) What is your definition of sanctification, and is it a complete or incompleted act within the believer? Sanctify To set apart for sacred use; consecrate. To make holy: Gen 2:3 And God blessed the seventh day, and sanctified it: because that in it he had rested from all his work which God created and made. God is able to sanctify us completely through Jesus' blood: Heb 13:11 For the bodies of those beasts, whose blood is brought into the sanctuary by the high priest for sin, are burned without the camp. 12 Wherefore Jesus also, that he might sanctify the people with his own blood, suffered without the gate. 13 Let us go forth therefore unto him without the camp, bearing his reproach. 2) What is the difference between holiness and sanctification? Sanctification leads to holiness. True repentence makes sanctification easy since Jesus comes in and changes us from the inside out (See Psalm 51). Therefore, New Creature we die to ourselves and become new creatures. The problem is with those that follow God half-heartedly. God is absolutely holy and requires absolute holiness of us. But some church go'ers want to "stradle the fence", in that they want the best of both worlds. Since God knows our hearts, He will not tolerate cleaning the outside of the cup while the inside is still filthy: Exodus 19:21 And the LORD said unto Moses, Go down, charge the people, lest they break through unto the LORD to gaze, and many of them perish. 22 And let the priests also, which come near to the LORD, sanctify themselves, lest the LORD break forth upon them. 23 And Moses said unto the LORD, The people cannot come up to mount Sinai: for thou chargedst us, saying, Set bounds about the mount, and sanctify it. 24 And the LORD said unto him, Away, get thee down, and thou shalt come up, thou, and Aaron with thee: but let not the priests and the people break through to come up unto the LORD, lest he break forth upon them. Eph 5:25 Husbands, love your wives, even as Christ also loved the church, and gave himself for it; 26 That he might sanctify and cleanse it with the washing of water by the word, 27 That he might present it to himself a glorious church, not having spot, or wrinkle, or any such thing; but that it should be holy and without blemish.
