Bible Question: I am a new Christian and am having some difficulty understanding why Christians think that God is a spitit and what the reference (in the scriptures) that animals do NOT have spirits. |
Bible Answer: I am a Christian and I believe very strongly that animals have spirit. I base this on several things in the Bible. In Genesis there are only two things that God created. Animals and Man. When God created Adam and Eve and the animals they were all vegetarians and neither man or the animals were subject to death. In Genesis 9:5 it states, "And for your lifeblood I will surely demand an accounting. I will demand an accounting from every animal. And from each man, too, I will demand an accounting for the life of his fellow man." There are numerous passages throughout the Bible. Even Jesus says in Matthew (?) that God,His Father is aware of every death, even that of a sparrow. God included the animals in His covenant with Noah. Romans 8:19(KJV) says that all of creation waits in eager expectation for Christs return Take a look at Revelation 4:7 where the living creatures were glorifying God. The twenty four elders said, "...You are worthy, our Lord and God, to receive glory and honor and power, for you created all things, and by your will they were created and have their being." Now look at Revelation 5:13, "Then I heard every creature in heaven and on earth and under the earth and on the sea, and all that is in them, singing: "To him who sits on the throne and to the Lamb be praise and honor and glory and power, for ever and ever."
