Bible Note: I am sure that Makarios is aware of the difference between YHWH and Adonai. Both are used of God the Father, and Jesus emplyed the divine name to describe Himself as well (John 8:56-59). In every translation which shows the "ego eimi" of John 8:58 in the present tense, just like it is in the Greek, we see exactly why the Jews were so enraged at this statement. There is no doubt that Jesus described Himself as being one in essence and in purpose and in activity with God the Father. --Joe! |
