Bible Answer: Dear Ricardo, I will try to answer your questions one at a time, as best I can: [1] Now this is a little tricky, so bear with me. I am going to give you a Scripture which is spoken about a man on earth, but it is also a message telling about what happened to the devil whose first name was Lucifer [which means "star of the morning"], which is what he was before he sinned. The Scripture is in Isaiah 14:12-14 "How you have fallen from heaven, O [Lucifer] morning star, son of the dawn! You have been cast down to earth, you who once laid low the nations! You said in your heart, I will ascend to heaven; I will raise my throne above the stars of God; I will sit enthroned on the mount of the assembly, on the utmost heights of the sacred mountain. I will make myself like the Most High." I was taught this was not only about an earthly king, but also the story of Satan's fall. Jesus also, when He was talking to His disciples, said: Luke 10:18- "...I beheld Satan as lightning fall from heaven." As far as I know, we are not told when exactly that was. But he lives on this earth. He was here to tempt Eve in the garden. He goes before the throne to accuse us to God, but Jesus intervenes on our behalf if we are His. And that's all I can say about him. [2] In the gospel's those who were baptized by John the Baptist had repented of their sins and had decided to turn back to God. This babtism was to prepare them for the coming of Jesus. When Jesus began His earthly ministry, his disciples baptized those who came and had decided to walk with God as Jesus was teaching them. After Jesus went to be with the Father, Christians were still baptized who wanted to turn from their sins and walk with God. Because of this the water baptism to me means putting the old life behind, and walking in new life with God. The Scripture I have for this is Romans 6:4- "Therefore we are buried with him by baptism into death: that, like as Christ was raised up from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life." This means to me that when we go under the water, it is like Jesus' death and burial, when we come up out of the water, it is like we are resurrected into a new life. It is the outward ritual by which we realize what is happening when we decide to walk with God and as a witness to others that we have made that committment. To be baptized in the Spirit is something else. Anyone who is born of God is commanded to be baptized in water for the reasons I have said above. Only Jesus baptizes us in the Spirit...that is, the Holy Spirit. The first time this happened was when the disciples were baptized with what looked like to others, tongues of fire over their heads [Acts 1 and 2] All those born of God have the Holy Spirit within them. To be Baptized in the Holy Spirit means the Holy Spirit in you enlarges to such a degree that He overflows from that one in blessing to others in the church of God. This may be in the gifts of the Holy Spirit which are listed in 1 Corinthians 12:2-14. [3]When we are born again, the Holy Spirit dwells in our Spirit and we are saved and will be with God when we leave this earth. Our body is not yet redeemed, however. This body must die...unless we are still living when Jesus returns, then it will be changed into our resurrected body immediately. But it is the body, our flesh, which causes us to be tempted by lusts and desires against the will of God. Romans 7:5-24 and 1 Cor. 15: 51-52. [4] God received the blood on the altar from these animals during the days of the Old Covenant or Old Testament, under the Mosaic Law and even before, until the day when Jesus the Christ would come and be the perfect substitute. Leviticus gives us much of the descriptions of these things. I hope this is of some help to you. Itiswritten |
