Bible Question: Can one loose their salvation ? |
Bible Answer: 1Cr 3:14 If any man's work abide which he hath built thereupon, he shall receive a reward. 1Cr 3:15 If any man's work shall be burned, he shall suffer loss: but he himself shall be saved; yet so as by fire. A person can loose the added rewards promised by Godly living. He can waste his life on trivial pursuit, he can grieve the Holy Spirit by giving in to sin and burdening his own life (and that of the people he loves)with sorrow, but once that person has repented and trusted Jesus as his savior, attached his life to the salvation that was given by the sacrifice of Jesus' life on the cross and in turn received the Holy Spirit, there is no loosing of ones salvation. No one is sin-proof because they are saved. The Holy Spirit will convict us of each specific sin, but it is Satan's desire to make us feel that the free gift of salvation, given to us through Jesus Christ by God's grace, can be taken away by our works. Rom 3:27 Where [is] boasting then? It is excluded. By what law? of works? Nay: but by the law of faith. Rom 3:28 Therefore we conclude that a man is justified by faith without the deeds of the law. Rom 5:1 Therefore, having been justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ, Rom 5:2 through whom also we have obtained our introduction by faith into this grace in which we stand; and we exult in hope of the glory of God. (HOPE- Strongs 1680-Grk.- elpis (el-pece) from a primary elpo (to anticipate, usually with pleasure) I inserted this to stress that it is not the hope like "I hope it will rain." When Jesus is your savior you are at piece with God. Now since our life is eternal, we must think eternal, loving Jesus by obeying Him more than we love the temporal sins this world has to offer which will be burned up in the end. Jhn 14:21 He who has My commandments and keeps them, it is he who loves Me. And he who loves Me will be loved by My Father, and I will love him and manifest Myself to him." NKJV Live boldly for Jesus, growing by the Holy Spirit, at piece with the Father. Bob |
