Bible Question:
Greetings Forum! Sir Pent raised an interesting question (and suggested a seperate thread for it): Are there any practical differences between Calvinism and Arminianism? By this question, I am not refering to the theological differences. Rather, I am refering to differences in life application. Does either view make any difference in the way we live our Christian lives? Please do not respond with theological arguments for or against. Please be polite and understanding. I realize that this type of thread has the possibilty of raising up a bunch of strawmen. With that said, have at it! :-) Your Brother in Christ, Tim Moran |
Bible Answer: Using Bill's questions to answer. How does your belief in Calvinism or Armenianism affect: 1) Your personal relationship to God? An understanding that God is both sovereign over and intimately involved in my life. 2) How accepted you feel that you are to God? Absolutely confident of acceptance. 3) Your prayer life? He desires to be called on and is faithful to answer. 4) Your Bible study? This makes a difference. If I come across something that seems to contradict my way of thinking, my brain sort of "seizes up" for a while. It forces me to look anew. 5) Your ability to share the gospel with others? It's my job to present the Word, and the Holy Spirit's to convict and apply the Word. If I keep that in mind, there's no problem. That's a good start. BTW, Bill asked Sir Pent if he was "C" or "A". For the record, I'm an "A"--Amyraldian. :-) Steve |
