Bible Question: I am new to the Word and would like some pointers as to where I should start. I'm interested in understanding and I'm at a loss for resources. Can you please help. Thank you. |
Bible Answer: Hi "awitnesstohiswork" and welcome to the forum. At one time I would have given much the same advice as many have given here, get a good study Bible and have at it. However through a set of circumstances I got introduced to Kay Arthur’s Inductive Study approach to the Bible. It is an excellent approach because you get God’s meaning and interpretation, not the author’s who wrote the Study Bible. Also when you take the Inductive approach you are reasonably sure your going to get an understanding that hasn’t been affected by previous teachings or ideas. At first blush it may seem to be a huge task to study the Bible inductively, but I have found anything worth having does take effort. There is an excellent book that explains the process and expected results to be gained. “How To Study Your Bible” by Kay Arthur, Harvest House Publishers, ISBN 1-56507-173-5 |
