Bible Question (short): Is a euphemism taking His name in vain? |
Question (full): Scripture ... Exodus 20:7 "You shall not take the name of the LORD your God in vain, for the LORD will not leave him unpunished who takes His name in vain." Norrie, Where is there keeping one's word/oaths in this commandment? Matthew 5:33-37 is not talking about this commandemnt. Jesus was talking about oral tradition ... "you have heard that it was SAID". Refer to Numbers 30:2. I am wondering if someone mistaught you or this is your own thought. If you think I added new sins to what God has said, I am sorry. However, if someone does or says something that is offensive, it is not always adding new sins. Romans 14 is an example. Nonetheless, the words you use to defame God do offend me (Matthew 18:15) ... even more, God. Searcher |
