AMPLIFIED 2015 | 2 John 1:7 ¶ For many deceivers [heretics, posing as Christians] have gone out into the world, those who do not acknowledge and confess the coming of Jesus Christ in the flesh (bodily form). This [person, the kind who does this] is the deceiver and the antichrist [that is, the antagonist of Christ]. |
Bible Question:
mommapbs, I wanted to add a bit by pointing out the way that the Koran (or is it "Coran"?) recognizes the prophets of the bible and attempts to build on their teachings after "rewriting" lies into them. I had a muslim co-worker that I tried to witness to a few times after getting very much aquinted. This led to my reading up from the Koran from the public library. Want to know what I found in it? The Koran rewrites the story of Abraham offering up Ishmael instead of Isaac, thereby making Egyptians children of the "promise" to make Mohommed greater than Jesus Christ. This shows how important it is to point out the truth of how the Jews are God's chosen people. Also how important it is to point out God's identification of Himself as the "God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob". How all of the new and old testament prophets were Jews. So why does Islam hate Jews? Why does the Koran teach hate towards Jews? Why do they thow out the bible and replace it with the Koran? The bible builds one book on top of the other using historical facts and predictions of future events that have been fulfilled time after time. When the new testament was written, sciptures from the old testament were properly used to build on, like Isaiah 53. The problem with Islam is that it shows the same likes and dislikes of an angry fellow we see in Rev 12. Also, Jesus taught of building on a rock. The scriptures teach of the "Stone" that the builders refused is become the head of the corner. The Chief cornerstone. Psalm 118:22 The stone which the builders rejected Has become the chief cornerstone. Matthew 21:42 Jesus said to them, "Have you never read in the Scriptures: "The stone which the builders rejected Has become the chief cornerstone. This was the LORD's doing, And it is marvelous in our eyes'? Mark 12:10 Have you not even read this Scripture: "The stone which the builders rejected Has become the chief cornerstone. Luke 20:17 Then He looked at them and said, "What then is this that is written: "The stone which the builders rejected Has become the chief cornerstone'? Acts 4:11 This is the "stone which was rejected by you builders, which has become the chief cornerstone.' 1 Peter 2:7 Therefore, to you who believe, He is precious; but to those who are disobedient "The stone which the builders rejected Has become the chief cornerstone," Yes, Islam is antichrist to the fullest extent. They do not build on anything but lies. Yes we should speak out against all sin even as John the Baptist did and was beheaded. So we must consider our loved ones when they "shack up" instead of getting married, or seek wholesale devorce, or get drunken, or curse, or lie or steal while still calling themselves "Christian" even within our churches. We owe it to them to speak out with gentleness and love. Any comments? Pastor Glenn |
Bible Answer: Greetings Pastor Glenn - you've hit one one of my "hot buttons" here! According to 2 Timothy 4:2-4 Paul charges Timothy (and us) with his responsibility as a witness of/to the Truth to "Preach the word; be ready in season and out of season; reprove, rebuke, exhort with great patience and instruction." He then goes on to give the reason WHY, "For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but wanting to have their ears tickled, they will accumulate for themselves teachers in accordance to their own desires, and will turn their ears away from the truth and will turn aside to myths." IMO, the church has neglected the task of "church discipline." At the extreme, those who support gay rights flock to churches where the ordained pastor is gay or does not preach homosexuality as a sin BUT to me, the greater issue is much more subtle as differences and disagreements have resulted in divisions and splits within bodies of believers. Jesus commands us to "love one another as HE loves." When we don't, is this not sin? Is this sin to be overlooked? Mt 18 gives clear guidance in (of)"fence mending." Just wondering, does your congregation follow this pattern do they get together and back stab and "gossip"? Just as God's discipline is for our bebefit, we must see church disciplin in the same way - it is indeed an act of love when applied in a Biblical manner. But imo, (and my experience)all too often it is not done in humility and love, but with condemnaion and self-righteousness. I totally agree, when sin is in our midst, we not only must be obedient to God, but in our obedience we serve one another, indeed as you have said, "We owe it to them to speak out with gentleness and love."
