NASB | 1 John 4:18 There is no fear in love; but perfect love casts out fear, because fear involves punishment, and the one who fears is not perfected in love. |
AMPLIFIED 2015 | 1 John 4:18 There is no fear in love [dread does not exist]. But perfect (complete, full-grown) love drives out fear, because fear involves [the expectation of divine] punishment, so the one who is afraid [of God's judgment] is not perfected in love [has not grown into a sufficient understanding of God's love]. |
Bible Question:
Greetings DairlyLeader5: You wrote, " God opened a window to the future to allow Jesus to look at the difference that his life would make for us and the world." Wouldn't Jesus already have KNOWN that? What kind of anxiety did Jesus have? Please support this statement. mommapbs |
Bible Answer: Good evening mommapbs Anxiety is 1 a : painful or apprehensive uneasiness of mind usually over an impending or anticipated ill b : fearful concern or interest c : a cause of anxiety 2 : an abnormal and overwhelming sense of apprehension and fear often marked by physiological signs (as sweating, tension, and increased pulse), by doubt concerning the reality and nature of the threat, and by self-doubt about one's capacity to cope with it The thing about Jesus that separates Him from us is the way he dealt life. He was without sin not without feelings. He suffered every temptation we suffer, only He never gave in to any temptation. When the trials came He went to God. He didn't read a book or listen to a tape or ask a rabbi, He prayed to GOD. He prayed to the Father three times to take the cup from Him. He was so intense that He sweat blood. Luke 22:44 And being in an agony he prayed more earnestly: and his sweat was as it were great drops of blood falling down to the ground. [KJV] agonia: a struggle (properly the state), i.e. (figurative) anguish :- agony. But regardless how He felt about what He was going to face He WAS OBEDIENT. Obedient unto death even the death of the cross. The sin of Adam was rebellion, disobedience to God. Romans 5:19 For as by one man's disobedience many were made sinners, so by the obedience of one shall many be made righteous. [KJV] Our restoration by Jesus was obedience to God. By His suffering He learned obedience. Hebrews 5:8 Though he were a Son, yet learned he obedience by the things which he suffered; [KJV] After asking three times He set His face toward the cross. The stuggle, agony, anguish over. Peace and determination replaced any other thought. HE TRUSTED IN THE LORD! How do we deal with the trials in life which cause us agony? Do we trust in the Lord? Jesus is our model, He has shown us Kingdom behavior. Cast all your cares upon Jesus because He cares for you (1 Peter 5:7). Trust in the LORD with ALL your heart; and lean not on your own understanding (Proverbs 3:5). He will see you through just as He saw Jesus through. |
