NASB | 1 John 4:18 There is no fear in love; but perfect love casts out fear, because fear involves punishment, and the one who fears is not perfected in love. |
AMPLIFIED 2015 | 1 John 4:18 There is no fear in love [dread does not exist]. But perfect (complete, full-grown) love drives out fear, because fear involves [the expectation of divine] punishment, so the one who is afraid [of God's judgment] is not perfected in love [has not grown into a sufficient understanding of God's love]. |
Bible Question: In the Garden when Jesus was praying was He ever afraid of the torture that was to occupany the cross? I mean he was fully man |
Bible Answer: NO Jesus was not afraid. Throughout the Bible we are continually told "do not fear." To fear then would be sin, right? Jesus knew no sin. He was not afraid. Recall when Jesus rescued Peter from the waves He asked him, Why did you doubt?" (Mt 14:25-31) Fear is the absence of faith. Jesus knew who He was; the Son of God - He had the presence of the Father with Him - no, He was not afraid of the process of death . . . my opinion is that He did not want to experience the forsaking of God, but for the joy set before Him (our redemption, our reconcilation . . .) He did; He endured the cross! mommapbs |
