AMPLIFIED 2015 | 1 John 3:16 By this we know [and have come to understand the depth and essence of His precious] love: that He [willingly] laid down His life for us [because He loved us]. And we ought to lay down our lives for the believers. |
Bible Question: Jesus knew he was going to die so its a suicide. Jobe asked god to kill him, the most righteous man in the bible. We ought to hate our lives in this world. I can be saved if i kill myself and smoking isnt a sin. Am i lying ? |
Bible Answer: You misunderstand what it was that Christ did for you. He did not take His own life, He gave it up for you. He gave, He didn’t take. He gave all and took nothing. 1 John 3:16 Hereby perceive we the love of God, because he laid down his life for us: and we ought to lay down our lives for the brethren. Concerning Job, yes, he desired death but never considered taking his own life, he begged God to do it, and was wrong in requesting it. “How uneasy soever the soul's confinement in the body may be, it must by no means break prison, but wait for a fair discharge.” – Matthew Henry “The vanity of human life; so uncertain a good is it that it often proves men's greatest burden and nothing is so desirable as to get clear of it. Let grace make us willing to part with it whenever God calls; for it may so happen that even sense may make us desirous to part with it before he calls.” – Matthew Henry We must hate our lives in this world in comparison to the “other world”. We must love it more in order to obtain it. John 12:24-26: 24Verily, verily, I say unto you, Except a corn of wheat fall into the ground and die, it abideth alone: but if it die, it bringeth forth much fruit. 25He that loveth his life shall lose it; and he that hateth his life in this world shall keep it unto life eternal. 26If any man serve me, let him follow me; and where I am, there shall also my servant be: if any man serve me, him will my Father honour. You can only be saved by the grace of God, through faith in Christ. Ephesians 2:8 For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Smoking is a sin as you purposely harm the Temple of God. 1 Corinthians 6:19-20 19What? know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost which is in you, which ye have of God, and ye are not your own? 20For ye are bought with a price: therefore glorify God in your body, and in your spirit, which are God's. Yes you are lying. WOS |
