AMPLIFIED 2015 | 1 John 1:9 If we [freely] admit that we have sinned and confess our sins, He is faithful and just [true to His own nature and promises], and will forgive our sins and cleanse us continually from all unrighteousness [our wrongdoing, everything not in conformity with His will and purpose]. |
Bible Question: I am not really sure if I should ask this question or not; but my soul has been perplexed for a couple of days. And my desire is to be pleasing in God's sight. I do understand God's word and I know right from wrong. However, my flesh has overruled my better judgement and I have fallen into sin. I am in turmoil over this and want to be forgiven of God, I am not sure if I should tell my husband or just leave it between me and the Lord. I am really confused and I know it is because of the sin, that I feel this way. My main concern is what to do, will God forgive me? am I lost forever because I knew what God required of me and that sin has no place in my life. i am so confused, I do not want to burn in hell for eternity, I desire to be before the thorne of God crying out HOLY HOLY HOLY God Almighty is HOLY. What should I do. Am I lost for eternity? Scriptures please. |
Bible Answer: Listen to the Word of God, not the condemnation of Satan. 1 John 1:9, the book of Galations, Romans 5, etc.,etc.,etc. If the blood of Christ only washed us up to a certain point in time and after that we must live perfect lives, no one would be saved. We all continue to sin(live imperfectly and deliberately disobey)after salvation. Our only hope is Jesus and His payment of our debt. There is much about the 'economy' of salvation in the scriptures but there is also much about the state of salvation, i.e. being adopted into God's family. John 1:12 'to all who recieved Him, to those who believed in His name, He gave the right to become children of God...' We are made part of His family. We don't stop being part of His family. Your guilt is from the Holy Spirit within you testifying that you need to turn around. Stop heading the way you've gone and start living the way you know He wants you to live. The way that brings life not death. Guilt concerning behavior is of the Spirit, condemnation of you as a person is not. Thoughts calling on you to correct your behavior are probably from God. Thoughts that suggest you are of no value and have no place in God's family are not from God. |
