Bible Question:
I often hear "you must forgive yourself", but I have not found any Scripture that addresses "forgive oneself". Please let me know your view on Self forgiveness and where you find this in the Bible. Thanks! Pat S. |
Bible Answer: PatS. Very good question, one that does not specifically have a Scriptural reference. One can not forgive themselves as this is God's position through Christ Jesus. However, to not realize that all sins are forgiven positionally through Christ is the question. There are times when we have sinned and its effects have hurt those we love, then it is a matter of conscience that we "can't forgive ourselves." We simply need to humble ourselves and realize that we each will continue to sin and that we must face up to our failures. Not to forgive ourselves is, in a sense, a slap at God's grace and a "reverse" of, you will, of pride. Hope this helps, InGodITrust |
