Subject: Will you pray with me? |
Bible Note: When one speaks disparagingly of the church or avers that he does not need the church, he disavows his allegiance to the very bride of Christ of which the Lord Jesus is the head. The church is a unique spiritual organism designed by Christ himself and consists of all born-again believers in this present age. For a Christian to say he does not need the church makes no more sense than for a man stranded in a desert to say he does not need water. Scripture references: 1 Cor. 12:12,13; 2 Cor. 11:2; Eph. 1:22; 5:23-32; Col. 1:8; Rev. 19:7,8. ..... Bunny, very likely many readers of this Forum will be praying for you and your family. Even so, this Forum is not the church and does not and cannot perform the functions of the church. It is within the community of believers, the church, that you will find the fellowship and succor that all believers require. There are many God-centered and Bible-centered churches. If you search for one as vigorously as you would search for a grocery store if you hadn't been fed in some time, you will find one. ...... Assumptions are sometimes unkind and quite often wrong. As with Doc, for instance, I'm convinced that Doc is neither a member of nor wouldn't even go near one of those "prosperty churches" as you call them. And I fail to find a basis for your accusation that he is self-righteous. He was trying to help you and I don't believe he asked for your evaluation of his spiritual condition. ....... As a father of three children, one of whom is deceased, I am not insensible to your concerns about your son. I'm certain that should such a thing have happened in the lives of my children during their formative years, I would have been every bit as distraught about it as you are. So you are in my thoughts and prayers, and may I urge you to align yourself with a local church. I do believe that the greater concern is about your son's salvation and connecting as a family with a local church. --Hank |
