AMPLIFIED 2015 | James 2:19 You believe that God is one; you do well [to believe that]. The demons also believe [that], and shudder and bristle [in awe-filled terror--they have seen His wrath]! [Deut 6:4; 11:13-21; Mark 12:29] |
Bible Question:
Since the demons believe that God is one, why aren't they saved? -Is it because of their lack of works (context of the verse)? What has believing that God is one do do with salvation? |
Bible Answer: James 2:19 19 Thou believest that there is one God; thou doest well: the devils also believe, and tremble. (KJV) This is why I only use the King James. Other versions have a tendency to reword the text and change the meaning. Are the demons not saved because of a lack of works? Works are in no way necessary for salvation (Rms. 6:23,Eph.2:8...."gift of God"-unearned). In this context, James is speaking about faith that produces works. It is not a faith that requires works otherwise.... Gal 2:21 21 I do not frustrate the grace of God: for if righteousness come by the law, then Christ is dead in vain. (KJV) What about your faith? Has your life changed because of it? Do you do things differently now? Can you show me your faith by your works? Do you have evidence of your salvation? If you are saved, then there must be evidence....... 2 Cor 5:17 17 Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new. (KJV) Why aren't the demons saved? Since it is a gift, it can be given to "whosoever" God chooses. He did not choose to give it to them, only to us.... John 3:16-18 16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. 17 For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved. 18 He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God.
