Bible Note: If it continued, why didn't Paul teach the gentiles about tithing? He had to teach them about Jesus - some of them had never heard of Him. In Col. 1 Paul says: (v27) To whom God would make known what is the riches of the glory of this mystery among the Gentiles; which is Christ in you, the hope of glory: (v28) Whom we preach, warning every man, and teaching every man in all wisdom; that we may present every man perfect in Christ Jesus: (v29) Whereunto I also labour, striving according to his working, which worketh in me mightily." If Paul was teaching to the extend he expresses in these verses (ie. "all wisdom") to "present every man perfect", why did he not teach them about tithing, since he took the time to teach them about giving? We can't just except that they continued to pay tithes, since the Law was made annulling and tithes were part of it. We have to find the truth - because with the new covenant came "better promises" (Heb. 8:6 But now He has obtained a more excellent ministry, by as much as He is also the mediator of a better covenant, which has been enacted on better promises.)! |
