Bible Question:
Should Christians celebrate Passover or Easter? I am dismayed by the amount of pagan influences that are connected with this holiday. My church doesn't say 'Happy Easter', but instead, 'Happy Resurrection Day' I do not want to partake in the festivities of coloring eggs, but allow it for the grandkids' sake. Does Passover have a connection with the resurrection? |
Bible Answer: Dear sonofmom, Welcome to the forum! I am a Jewish convert to Christianity. I, also, say "Happy Resurrection Day." Why would you want to go backwards, to the old covenant, when the new is our assurance of our eternal inheritance (Hebrews 9:15)? Why take on a burden that not even the Jews have been able to bear (Acts 15:10)? The world will always distort and obfuscate the things of God. This is part of the hatred of the Serpent to the Holy Seed. What does such distortion have to do with us? Therefore, go on walking as you ought -- in grace, not legalism -- keeping our eyes on Christ. No day is superior to another. Rather, let us rejoice on this day at the consummation of the work of Lamb of God in atonement. In Him, Doc |
