AMPLIFIED 2015 | Hebrews 10:29 How much greater punishment do you think he will deserve who has rejected and trampled under foot the Son of God, and has considered unclean and common the blood of the covenant that sanctified him, and has insulted the Spirit of grace [who imparts the unmerited favor and blessing of God]? [Ex 24:8] |
Bible Question:
According to this verse, WHO is guilty of trampling "under foot the Son of God and has regarded as unclean the blood of the covenant by which he was sanctified, and has insulted the Spirit of grace"? |
Bible Answer: Hebrews was written by Paul who was Saul a Jew and Pharasee, who was also in part responsable for the stoneing of Stephen. When converted he became the teacher for the gentiles. In this book he is comparing the earthly sanctuary to the one in Heaven where Christ is now as our high preist making intersession for us as our mediator. The blood of animals was a type to foreshadow Christ work in the Heavenly sanctuary. When a sin was commited the transgressor had to kill the lamb with his hands. This was to impress on the sinner the terribleness of sin that a sinless spotless life had to shed its blood by your hands for your sin. This Life was symbolic of the shedding of blood by Christ. The Jews don't believe this and would not accept Christ because they wanted to be exhalted over the nations as an earthly power and not as a spiritual nation who was to give light to the world. They were of the world. Enough background. The blood of Christ cleanses the sinner and brings salvation for those who accept it. The ones who are trampling on Christ are the ones who are rejecting his sacrifice and death on the cross for them. He being Christ was crucified one time for all sinners. Paul after starting churches in other lands went back to them when they were in trouble from false doctrine. Hebrews is a call to be faithful in the doctrine he taught and not to accept false doctrines,he calls unsound doctrines or the teachings of men who do not speak in accordance to the word. You see here that the antichrist has already started his work to replace the doctrine of the Living God with False teachings to confuse and decieve Gods children. |
