Subject: christians practicing good church attend |
Bible Note: I stand by exactly what I said. I do not go to church because I have to go to church, I go because I want to go to church, because I know that it is good for me. You can beat someone over the head with the word and guilt them into going; but if they are not there because they want to be there, they probably will not get much from it, and they probably will not continue to attend in the future. People who do not want to attend will not do so for the long term out of fear or force, that has not and does not work, they have to do so out of love; out of a sincere desire to be there. So what we want does fall into the equation; as, we should be in church not out of mandate but out of a sincere desire to be there. And if we do not want to be there, and we are looking for excuses not to be there, then that shows that we have a very serious problem of the heart. So lets look at the commandment for a moment, and see if we are commanded to be at church, because you seem to think so. "Remember the sabbath day, to keep it holy. Six days shalt thou labour, and do all thy work: But the seventh day is the sabbath of the LORD thy God: in it thou shalt not do any work, thou, nor thy son, nor thy daughter, thy manservant, nor thy maidservant, nor thy cattle, nor thy stranger that is within thy gates: For in six days the LORD made heaven and earth, the sea, and all that in them is, and rested the seventh day: wherefore the LORD blessed the sabbath day, and hallowed it." Exodus 20:7-11 KJV It seems to be a mandate to rest, not a mandate to attend services, as is clearly understood by reading the text itself. Attending services and having fellowship with each other is something we do out of a sincere desire and love and not out of commandment. |
