Bible Note: Emmaus I agree we are integral spirit and body but upon salvation the spirit is transformed from dead in sin to eternal sinlessness. Our bodies however remains corruptible flesh with all it desires both good and bad. That body will eventually die, to be resurrected again. However our bodies upon resurrection are transformed from corruptible to incorruptible. Therefore at this time I see the situation of a Christian as a sinless eternal spirit dwelling in an corruptible mortal body. In this situation we at times give into the desires of the flesh whether through a instant response of calling a person an idiot in moment of anger or over time, convincing ourselves we are entitled to enjoy life and justifying adultery or some other sin. Paul describes this tension in Romans chapters 7 and 8. He admonishes us that the more we allow our spirits to control our flesh the closer to perfection we walk Romans 8:7-11. However at the resurrection our spirit will be joined with our risen resurrected bodied that have been transformed from corruptible to incorruptible at that point our bodies will no longer have lusts and sinful desires. Our spirit and body will once again be in harmony with each other allowing us to live in sinless perfection. That is how I see it, until we are free of this sinful flesh with it lusts and desires will there will be a war within us. If we walk in flesh we sin, if we walk in the spirit we are free of sin.
