Bible Note: Greetings All Let me tip toe in here. Emmaus while I think our body is integral with our spirit I do see us in kind a body suit as only our spirit is eternal. At the fall man’s spirit became sinful. But if we look at the fall we see lust already existed in the flesh but was held in check by the spirit. The Serpent tempted Eve with the lust of flesh, was good to eat, with the lust of eye was pleasant to look at, and pride of life desirable to make one wise. Genesis 3:6 and 1 John 2:16 After the fall with a sinful spirit man was without hope and sin reigned in man. Upon salvation we come new, old things have passed away 2 Cor 5:17 is talking about our spirit man. In Romans where it talks about our old man being set free from sin is talking about our spirit man. Our spirit is dead to sin but sin still reigns in the body and will until the resurrection when we get our perfect body. 1 Cor. 15:51-52 “ Behold, I tell you a mystery: We shall not all sleep, but we shall all be changed-- [52] in a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trumpet. For the trumpet will sound, and the dead will be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed.” Once we are saved we can like Eve override our spirit either intentionally or on the spur of the moment but because Christ died for our sins our spirit no longer dies because of sin, but now instead has eternal life. Our new spirit man in agreement with the Holy Spirit immediately reminds us of the sin and in my case keeps me in a state of turmoil until I set things right. EdB |
