Bible Question: where in the bible it says that The Holy Spirit, guided the men in writing The Bible. |
Bible Answer: Hi incsson, Welcome to the forum. Your short question has "holy spirit" and your full question has "Holy Spirit". As a person interested in capitalization, I must tell you that there is a difference. There are at least 24 occurances of "in the Spirit" or "in the spirit" found in the Scriptures. We have to decide whether they are speaking of the Person or whether it is simply inspiration. You can't have the word mean both at the same time. There are at least 9 occurances of being "filled with the Holy Spirit" in the New Testament. I personally put those occurances in the lower case in my copy. There is also Romans 1:4 to consider. Does it speak of the spirit of holiness, Jesus Christ our Lord or the Spirit of holiness? I personally go with "spirit of holiness" because it fits the personal pattern of numbering that I use after years of study. John 4:24 offers "God is spirit", NASB or "God is Spirit", NKJ. If you involve yourself in a study of these things I would suggest that you use these versions that capitalize Deity. From the heart, Ray |
