Bible Question: Why should the NASB be preferred over the KJV or other translations? |
Bible Answer: svickers2: Welcome to the Study Bible Fourn! The KJV was translated form the best manuscrips they had at the time, and those who translated the KJV had a Roman Catholic background. There are some verses that reflect the bias of Rome. The KJV is NOT the best translation NOW. The NASB used older manuscrips that were not available at the time of 1611. The wording of the KJV is beautiful, and will always be the Bible of choive for many. The NASB is as many scholars say the most accurate word for word translation today. At times the wording seems wordy, and required some thought. I personally like Psalm 139 in the NASB as the intimate words are so sweet. That being said, I like the NIV a hair more. The NIV is rendered thought for thought and sometimes that convays the message better for me. I find in the mid west the NIV and the NKJV seem toi be the majority of what is used by the pastors in preaching. The Bible sales also seem to back this up in this area of the USA as well. I personally think the best bible is the one you enjoy and will read. The Bible is the worlds best selling book that is read the least. So, I hope this also helps. justme |
