Bible Question: I am still confused. Shouldnt we want more out of life than just the system? I am quite sure that God dont honor people not working when they are able to work. |
Bible Answer: Nakia - You are absolutely right! I just wrote a response to another question about being content and referenced John 10:10 which states that Jesus came that we might have life more abundantly. The Word also says that He made us in His image, and we do not serve a poor God. It is not God's desire for us to be poor and have as little as we can while we are on the earth, but the key is Matt 6:33 - "Seek ye first the kingdom of God and His righteousness and all these things shall be added to you" Being content, to me, is being thankful for what you have instead of complaining about the things that we don't have. Our sole focus in life should not be to get more material things. It is o.k. to want to do better, though and to strive to do better. In Matt 25, the Word speaks on a parable about three servants who were each given a certain amount of talents - one was given five, one two, and the other one. Each servant doubled what they had been given except the servant who had been given the one talent. He buried his and produced nothing w/ it, and he was rebuked for it, was told that he was a "wicked and slothful servant." This lets us know that God is a God who holds us accountable for what we do with the things He has given us charge over in life (and EVERYTHING we have He has given us). We should always be working to produce something more than what we began with, not just sitting idly on our talents, time, money, etc. Hope that helps a little more. |
