Bible Question: My question is on 1 Timothy 3:2. I have been studing this verse and not to sure on the meaning of the husband of one wife. What I'd like to know is does it mean that if you have been divorced and remarried to someone else, then you can not be a Pastor? And is this just apply to those who are now Christian? Does it matter if it all happened before you became a Christian? Please help me to understand this verse.. Thank you.. |
Bible Answer: Greetings Met. I suspect that this verse gives us an answer to your question. Have you done a search on divorce in God's Word? God hates divorce! (Mal 2:16) See what it says, then check out the quick search feature on divorce. While I am aware of several Pastors who have been divorced and then choose to re-marry, I do wonder about the effectiveness of their ministry in light of this portion of God's Word. We are told to be reconciled to one another! See 1 Cor 7:14 Blessings, mommapbs PS: How marvelous is the Grace and Mercy of our Lord, who continues to love and forgive our unfaithfulness! |
