Bible Question:
When a pastor is not nice, many people begin to leave church. It seems no any change even though I pray for him. Do I need to quit to have a rest? Please answer according Bible. Peace ardmore |
Bible Answer: Hello ardmore, I do not know "how" your pastor is not being nice. However, I can relate as I too have been through a similar situation in leaving a church. I learned that "Pastors" aren't perfect! Scripturally, you can reference 1 Tim. 3:1-7, Titus 1:7-8. I would continue to pray for your pastor and bring your concerns to him if you can and feel convicted to do so. Pray for His leading as God wants you to either stay or He could be leading you in another direction. Is this an isolated instance or is their a pattern? How many people have left? Is the Pastor accountable to elders and/or deacons? John Maxwell has wisely said that true leadership is best exemplified in a church. "Positional leadership doesn't work in volunteer organizations. Because a leader doesn't have leverage- or influence- he is ineffective." You are not obligated to stay under this man's authority if , in fact he is abusing his position. You are free to find another fellowship if need be. I hope this helps, BradK |
