NASB | Colossians 3:21 Fathers, do not exasperate your children, so that they will not lose heart. |
AMPLIFIED 2015 | Colossians 3:21 Fathers, do not provoke or irritate or exasperate your children [with demands that are trivial or unreasonable or humiliating or abusive; nor by favoritism or indifference; treat them tenderly with lovingkindness], so they will not lose heart and become discouraged or unmotivated [with their spirits broken]. |
Bible Question: Exasperate. In know this can't mean that we shouldn't set limits or rules so that our children won't be frustrated. But are there any parents out there who have real-life examples of this that may help me understand more what this means? |
Bible Answer: When my kids do something wrong like they fight sometimes(5and7yrs both boys) and don't listen about picking up there mess of toys (happens alot).I make them aware of the consequences to there choices and let them make that choice tell them what is right in God's eyes, above all even though hard at times Do it all in Love and unto the Lord, not out of anger and flesh because then you may say harsh things like" You can't do nothing right" or things that will push them away and rebel later. I know that pride comes before the fall and with my kids I do not want to be prideful like I never make mistakes or did wrong. Hope this helps. |
