Bible Note: Greetings Sandrider! It is well established that the plural form of 'sabbaton' in connection with a number indicates the day of the week. Thus, in Mt. 28:1, the account literally says, "After the Sabbath, on the first of the week...". So, sabbath is used in two different ways in this verse. The first refers to the seventh day Sabbath, while the second refers to the first day of the week. No Greek scholar would say that the text is referring to two different Sabbath days. I hope this helps! Your Brother in Christ, Tim Moran |
