Bible Question: What comparrisons can be made between circumcission in the Old Testament, and baptism in the New Testament? |
Bible Answer: They both have been outward signs signifying belonging to God's people. Neither one saves, but identifies them as members of God's covenant people and point to God's promises of salvation for His own. Colossians 2:11-12 identifies baptism as the "circumcision of Christ." Catholics, Orthodox, and some Protestant denominations baptize infants, just as infant males received the rite of circumcision in Israel. Is that what you were looking for? --Joe! |
