Bible Note: Dear ICor13, I'm just asking, are you talking about Deu 18 or Deu 17? You have "Deut 18" in your title line, but you quote ch.17 for your verse. I mean no offense, merely wishing to clarify If you mean chapter 18, I will offer this response: God says, in Deut 18:20--"But the prophet who speaks a word presumptuously in My name which I have not commanded him to speak, or which he speaks in the name of OTHER GODS, that prophet shall die." Mohammed, of course, was that "prophet" of the pagan god Allah. Besides, I believe God, when speaking about their countrymen, meant someone of pure Jewish stock.
