AMPLIFIED 2015 | Ephesians 5:2 and walk continually in love [that is, value one another--practice empathy and compassion, unselfishly seeking the best for others], just as Christ also loved you and gave Himself up for us, an offering and sacrifice to God [slain for you, so that it became] a sweet fragrance. [Ezek 20:41] |
Bible Question: This is actually going to be discussed in a youth group and I need to "make it plain". They will say "What does this mean 'salvation' is the way?" I thought you said "John 3:16 and Roman's 10:9", so how does this tie together? What would your response be? |
Bible Answer: I'm not sure I understand your question, but the word salvation means being saved. In our context, salvation means being saved from God's eternal punishment of our sins, which is separation from Him, and being saved from sin's power over us during our time on Earth. The only "Way" to salvation is Jesus Christ - He said it Himself in John 14:6. This is in agreement with both John 3:16 and Romans 10:9. If we believe on Jesus as our Lord, the Son of God, and accept His sacrificial death and resurrection on our behalf in payment of our sins, we are saved. We are reconciled to God, saved from a life without hope, and saved from an eternity of torment. I have found that in dealing with youth, stressing the comfort and wisdom that come from a personal relationship with Christ is more effective than scaring them about hell. Teens tend to live very much in the present moment and may think they have plenty of time to think about eternity later. Hope this helps. |
