Bible Note: Hi Kalos, The word "Helper" I think is key to the error in the JW's thinking about John 14:16,17. (I don't know what "AT" is in your quote). The idea of "another" Helper or another that equals One, a Parakletos, Comforter, Intercessor, needs the capitalization of this One. He is our Helper. He is the Spirit of truth. It is true that truth stays with you and is in you, but John 14:17 has the pronouns of Deity. The verse talks about the world not receiving the truth because it does not behold Him or know Him. But they knew Him and we know Him because He abides with us; and the truth will be in us. If we love Him we keep His word. Personally, I have the word "Helper" capitalized in Psalm 54:4 and Hebrews 13:6. I see them as good companion verses yet while speaking of the Father and the Son as equal Helpers. Psalm 54:4, "Behod, God is my *Helper; The Lord is the sustainer of my soul. 5 He will recompense the evil to my foes; Destroy them in Thy faithfulness. [Or, Put to silence them in Thy truth] 6 Willingly I will sacrifice to Thee; I will give thanks to Thy name, O Lord, for it is good. For He [marginal note, Or, it] has delivered me from all trouble; And my eye has looked with satisfaction upon my enemies." So the name "Helper" can be thought of as a Person for Psalm 54:4. And recognizing that the name is good, it [truth]has delivered us from all trouble. Hebrews 13:6, "so that we confidently say, "The Lord is my Helper, I will not be afraid, What shall man do to me?" 7 Remember those who led you, who spoke the word of God to you; and considering the result of their conduct, imitate their faith. 8 Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today, yes and forever." 1) I do agree with the "filled with the holy spirit" for Acts 2:4.
