Bible Note: Hi Hank, Heterodox: opinion, akin to dokein, to think, seem: departing from or opposed to the usual beliefs or established doctrines, esp. in religion; inclining toward heresy; unorthodox. John 4:23, "...for such people the Father seeks to be His worshipers. 24 (God) is Spirit..." 2 Corinthians 3:17, "Now the (Lord) is the Spirit; and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is liberty. 18 But we all, with unveiled face beholding as in a mirror the glory of the Lord are being transformed into the same image from glory to glory, just as from the Lord, the Spirit." 1) I agree that "the Holy Spirit is not to be envisioned as a mere force or influence." But I am having you consider the holy spirit as a force or influence for there is power in the word of God. 2) There is a difference between "giving the Holy Spirit to Jesus" and the idea that the Holy Spirit came upon Jesus. The Holy Spirit came upon Jesus and He was filled with the holy spirit and washed and baptized with the word. Matthew 3:11, "As for me, I baptize with water for repentence, but He who is coming after me is mightier than I, and I am not fit to remove His sandals; He will baptize you with the *holy *spirit and with fire." That is the way I see it. From the heart, Ray 3) You will have to explain to me what a scriptual "QED" is. |
