AMPLIFIED 2015 | Ephesians 4:16 From Him the whole body [the church, in all its various parts], joined and knitted firmly together by what every joint supplies, when each part is working properly, causes the body to grow and mature, building itself up in [unselfish] love. |

Bible Note: Hi Azure, I have the correct first name, so I'll jump in. :-) The fruit of the Spirit is presented in opposition to the deeds of the flesh in a larger section concerning the freedom we have in Christ (Gal. 5:13-26). That being the case, the fruit Paul speaks of should be a natural part of every believer's life. All will be demonstrating in a practical way, love, joy, peace, patience, etc. In contrast, the spiritual gifts are given sovereignly by the Spirit (1 Cor 12) for the needs of the church. Not all believers have a specific gift (Rom 12; 1 Cor 12). Not all gifts may be present in a local church though all are walking in the Spirit. Steve |
