NASB | Ephesians 4:16 from whom the whole body, being fitted and held together by what every joint supplies, according to the proper working of each individual part, causes the growth of the body for the building up of itself in love. |
AMPLIFIED 2015 | Ephesians 4:16 From Him the whole body [the church, in all its various parts], joined and knitted firmly together by what every joint supplies, when each part is working properly, causes the body to grow and mature, building itself up in [unselfish] love. |
Bible Question:
Do we (mankind) do more harm then good when we take upon ourselves and/or allow someone to serve in capacities within the church that they have not been gifted for? Some say, God will bless it because someone has stepped up to do that which no one else would do. Is this in fact true? Or do we do more harm then good? Steve |
Bible Answer: God's day to you, Steve, I have been in the midst of this situation, thrice. Once, where I was asked to be a deacon. I DQed myself because I wasn't married. Our church issued a call to someone who didn't have the spiritual gift to be a pastor. But, the "good ole boys" wanted him. Later, one of them came to me and said I was right. I spoke up, as I should. He left soon after. Another church issued to call to a pastor, who I said should not be called. He taught homeletics at a seminary. But, he didn't have the gift to preach, nor pastor. His call and actions after he came caused many to leave, I even suggested to him to step down. He refused - we left. When I heard he was going to be a minister at our new church, I objected. Our new church was elder ruled. He was under a 90 day trial, I was told. He was out before the 90 days. We need to do our part for the body, ad not be lazy. We also need to stop those who aren't qualified to serve. IMHO, Searcher |
