AMPLIFIED 2015 | Ephesians 2:8 For it is by grace [God's remarkable compassion and favor drawing you to Christ] that you have been saved [actually delivered from judgment and given eternal life] through faith. And this [salvation] is not of yourselves [not through your own effort], but it is the [undeserved, gracious] gift of God; |
Bible Question: As a Christian, can OUR faith save us? Peter denied Christ 3 times. If his faith is stronger than mine and he failed at the most crucial moment how could my faith possibly save me. Rather is it not the perfect faith of Christ that saves me. Is the faith spoke of in the bible really the faith of our Lord? |
Bible Answer: Hi RNtim, If faith cannot save us, what does or can? Our faith is not a blind faith, but has as its' object the Lord Jesus Christ! Part of your answer lies in Gal. 2:17 "But if, while seeking to be justified in Christ, we ourselves have also been found sinners, is Christ then a minister of sin? May it never be!" (NASB) "For what does the Scripture say? "ABRAHAM BELIEVED GOD, AND IT WAS CREDITED TO HIM AS RIGHTEOUSNESS." (Rom. 4:3 NASB) "For by grace you have been saved through faith; and that not of yourselves, it is the gift of God; not as a result of works, so that no one may boast." (Eph. 2:8-9 NASB) "nevertheless knowing that a man is not justified by the works of the Law but through faith in Christ Jesus, even we have believed in Christ Jesus, so that we may be justified by faith in Christ and not by the works of the Law; since by the works of the Law no flesh will be justified." (Gal. 2:16 NASB) The KJV (literally) reads on Gal. 2:20 " I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself for me." I trust this will help to answer your question. BradK |
