Bible Question:
Sorry that I marked it a note instead of a question. Does "the two" here refer to "both groups (the Jews and gentiles)" in v14? If so, what does "into one NEW MAN" mean? Does it refer to the true church (the body of Christ)? Thanks for your help. Shalom Azure |
Bible Answer: God's day to you, Azure Therefore remember that formerly you, the Gentiles in the flesh, who are called "Uncircumcision" by the so-called "Circumcision," which is performed in the flesh by human hands (Eph 2:11) says "both groups (the Jews and Gentiles)" (v 14) Before Gentiles were Eph 2:12 1 separate from Christ, 2 excluded from the commonwealth of Israel, 3 strangers to the covenants of promise, 4 having no hope 5 without God in the world. Eph 2:13 6 formerly were far off ... also read Eph 2:2 in which you formerly walked according to the course of this world, according to the prince of the power of the air, of the spirit that is now working in the sons of disobedience. Eph 2:3 Among them we too all formerly lived in the lusts of our flesh, indulging the desires of the flesh and of the mind, and were by nature children of wrath, even as the rest. Now Eph 2:13 But now in Christ Jesus have been brought near by the blood of Christ. Christ made both groups into one Christ broke down the barrier of the dividing wall, Eph 2:15 by abolishing in His flesh the enmity, which is the Law of commandments contained in ordinances, so that in Himself He might make the two into one new man, thus establishing peace, Eph 2:16 and might reconcile them both in one body to God through the cross, by it having put to death the enmity. Eph 2:17 AND HE CAME AND PREACHED PEACE TO YOU WHO WERE FAR AWAY, AND PEACE TO THOSE WHO WERE NEAR; Eph 2:18 for through Him we both have our access in one Spirit to the Father. Eph 2:19 So then you are no longer strangers and aliens, but you are fellow citizens with the saints, and are of God's household, Searcher |
